Booked the lounge!
We are interested in having New Thoughts about the future of human-computer interaction. What are New Thoughts? You’ll feel it. By New Thoughts we mean that you have begun to think about a subject in a new way. You’re having totally different ideas. You’ve been pilled, mind-blown, etc. These Locally New Thoughts are great, and iterating through them quickly is how we will get to Globally New Thoughts, where we’re starting to have truly new ideas about the future of HCI.
We will read the mind-altering readings and talks. We’ll work through a Canon of human-computer interaction - Bret Victor, Christopher Alexander, Marshall McLuhan. These are the deepest and most creative thinkers and the field and likely to spark the newest ideas. Getting familiar with a shared Canon also helps us ideate from a shared foundation.
Everyone must finish the reading before each session. If you have not done the reading, you cannot speak - you can only tweet. We set a high bar here - you must completely finish the reading before the meeting. This leads to way higher quality discussions. If you haven’t, we invite you to attend - as a listener AND poaster! We’re always trying to publish more of our work… so you may be voluntold to post your favorite insights and ideas from the discussion on Twitter, Substack, your blog, etc. (no need for minutes/transcription, we have an AI scribe).
