About National GRIP
National Graduate Research Innovation Programme (GRIP) is a 12-month structured deep tech venture creation programme to be launched in January 2025, as announced by DPM Heng at the RIE Deep Tech Day 2024. The programme is designed to nurture and equip aspiring deep tech co-founders with “founder-ready skillsets” to bridge the gap between scientific research and market needs.

Electronics & Communications

iOrbital: iOrbital develops edge solutions that pushes the boundaries of both connectivity and security of embedded systems that leverage on Low-Earth-Orbit Satellite communications. Applying AI and Machine Learning through the creation of global models and dynamic bandwidth spectrum optimisation with on-premise computation, iOrbital is able to bring a new level of adoption in the field of distrbuted and decentralised architectures reliably even in the most unconnected environments. We believe that this technology is the key to enabling AI-derived impact on a more direct level in industries such as Finance, Healthcare, Maritime and Agriculture.

MagLoc: Our magnetic-based, high-accuracy mapping and navigation system enables precise location tracking in areas with limited or no access to GPS or mobile networks. By leveraging Earth's magnetic fields, this technology offers reliable navigation in signal-deprived environments such as underground facilities, warehouses, ports and remote sites, by providing accurate, real-time location data where traditional navigation tools fail. Users gain enhanced operational efficiency, safety, and the ability to navigate complex spaces without dependence on external signals, making it ideal for mission-critical applications in challenging environments.

Q-Count: Developing practical quantum computers and secure quantum networks depends on the ability to detect large numbers of photons with extremely high efficiency. Single-photon detectors are thus essential for the quantum infrastructure, yet existing solutions struggle with either scalability or efficiency. Our innovation combines the scalability of integrated photonics with the high efficiency of superconducting nanowires, resulting in the first truly scalable, efficient single-photon detector. This technology overcomes current limitations, enabling the reliable detection capabilities necessary for advancing large-scale quantum applications and unlocking the full potential of quantum communication and computation.

Food & AgTech

LoopForBio: Our process produces microbial community-based single cell protein (SCP) from food-processing wastewaters (FWW), transforming waste into a valuable, sustainable protein source. By harnessing diverse microbial communities, we efficiently convert organic matter in FWW into SCP, offering a low-cost, eco-friendly alternative to traditional protein production. This approach reduces the environmental impact of food processing by minimizing waste, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting circular economy goals. Ideal for animal feed or agricultural use, SCP from FWW can lower feed costs for farmers, enhance nutrient availability, and create a sustainable supply chain that aligns with global resource conservation efforts.

ICT

AutoCodeRover: Software development is an iterative process to create software by continuously adding new features and fixing identified defects. An inevitable outcome of continuous software evolution is the existence of software defects, which consumes significant time from developers to debug and resolve. Automated Program Repair(APR) is a technology that has gained industry adoption to automatically fix software defects. Agent-based program improvement leverages the capabilities of GenAI to improve the efficacy of APR while augmenting with context information via program analysis. The core technology focuses on autonomous program improvement that works with human developers as well as AI developers.

CognideX: CognideX is a decentralized data marketplace that leverages AI and Web3 technologies to empower individuals to monetize their personal data. By aggregating data from various platforms, it offers businesses unparalleled insights. Operating under DAO governance, CognideX ensures transparency and community-driven decision-making. Users can contribute personal data, earning our native cryptocurrency, CGDX, while maintaining privacy through secure data masking and blockchain-powered data lifecycle tracking. Our platform aims to create a thriving ecosystem, transforming data into a valuable asset for both individuals and businesses, fostering innovation in a decentralized marketplace.

DocuSurf: DocuSurf is an AI research assistant designed to empower researchers by automating and streamlining various aspects of research process. DocuSurf completes your research tasks with a team of specialized AI agents, each tailored to handle distinct tasks such as reference management, data extraction, paper categorization, and analysis. Researchers can create their personalized workflow by chaining together multiple agents to fulfill specific requirements, and style. DocuSurf goes one step further by enabling researchers to create fully customized AI agents, allowing tailor the platform even more precisely to their unique research needs and preferences, ensuring a highly personalized and efficient research experience.

NALA: NALA simplifies and streamlines the development and deployment of chatbots. It empowers educators and professionals without technical expertise to create adaptive educational chatbots easily. Advanced users can further customize chatbots to meet specific requirements, making NALA a flexible tool across industries. Designed for easy deployment, NALA also includes rich analytics, offering valuable insights into user interactions to improve chatbot performance. Although developed with educators in mind, its cross-industry applicability enhances its appeal as a versatile solution for leveraging adaptive chatbot technology in various fields.

Personal AI Agent: Novices often face a steep learning curve when acquainting themselves with complex professional computer software. For instance, software like After Effects, and SAP system usually offer a suite of advanced functions, yet its rich features sets a high entry barrier for new users. We have constructed an AI Assistant system based on multimodal large language models with the capacity to comprehend Graphical User Interface (GUI) interfaces, grasp software usage methodologies, and manipulate applications to significantly expedite the learning and operating processes. As such an Assistant evolves, it will liberate humans from the tedious complexities that currently impede creativity and productivity.

Medtech & Digital Health

CeruClean: Earwax is the leading cause of hearing aid malfunctions. It clogs the receiver, distorting or blocking sound, causing millions of devices to be sent for cleaning annually. Existing home-based cleaning methods are costly, ineffective, and use harsh agents that can irritate the ear canal and shorten receiver lifespan.

CeruClean's cleaning technology uses an autocleaning system equipped with a nanobubble generator, shaker, UVC light, and a heater fan. The cleaning is accomplished using nanobubble water without active agents or cleaning solutions. The system will clean, disinfect, and dry hearing aid receivers within an hour, offering a cost-effective, comprehensive, and convenient cleaning solution.

ChemT: ChemT is an AI-driven biotech company, building the next-generation platform for cell and gene therapy. The company was established by world-class cell therapy & AI scientists, and exited healthcare entrepreneurs. The team aims to transform the current landscape of immune cell therapy manufacturing, which faces significant challenges in product cost and quality. Our first innovative product has demonstrated a 5-10x increase in yield while enhancing quality significantly, including both in vitro and in vivo efficacy.

JIVA Digital Anatomy Platform: JIVA uses 3D, AR based digital models (from plasticized cadavers) to enhance anatomy education. These high-resolution 3D digital models of human organs and specimens, based on plasticized cadavers, help to advance anatomy education. The models leverage photogrammetry, Unity, and augmented reality for realistic, interactive learning. They integrate seamlessly with digital learning solutions, enabling publishers and edtech platforms to enrich their offerings with lifelike anatomical visuals, providing an engaging alternative to traditional physical cadavers.

Liminal Analytix: Our solution offers a non-animal alternative to traditional eye irritation tests, specifically the Draize rabbit eye test, commonly used in toxicology. It addresses the need for assessing irritancy in personal care products, drugs, and chemicals without relying on animal models. By replicating the lipidic layers of the eye surface, we create ocular-mimetic structures on planar and bead surfaces. These structures, arranged in parallel arrays, enable efficient testing. Using optical and fluorescence microscopy, this technology provides high-throughput, ultrasensitive detection of eye irritants across various forms, including solid particles, dissolved substances, and vapors, advancing toxicology assessments.
