​What We're About

• ​Founder Poker Montreal is a new initiative to bring the Montreal tech community together. The event is inspired by our friends at Founder Poker Toronto, who have built a community of more than 800 poker players. 

• ​It's not about the money. The buy in for Founder Poker is $5, and that comes with food and drink. So no matter what, you will be up by the end of the night.

• ​All are welcome. If you haven't played poker before, don't worry. We do a Poker 101 from 6:00 to 6:45PM at the start of each event.

• ​Curated community. We review every application and curate attendees with an eye toward diversity of thought and experience and with a bias toward founders.

• ​❗No Show Policy. Each Founder Poker Montreal event is a tournament, so it's essential that we know who is coming. If you sign up, there's a 100% obligation to come, barring life emergences. Registering & no-showing without notice will get you a temporary ban. Doing it twice will get you booted.  

​Logistics

• ​Doors open at 6 PM. Please don't come early, our hosts will be busy setting up.

• ​Poker 101 + Mingling - 6:00PM - 6:45PM

• ​Tournament - 6:45 PM - 9:00PM

  • ​3 Tables until 8 PM at latest

  • ​1 Table from 8PM to 9 at the latest

• ​Food - pizza provided by our sponsors

• ​Drinks - beer and soft drinks provided by our sponsors

​Founder Poker has a tradition of thoughtful group norms. Here are the core values that we hope the community embodies:

• ​Be Inclusive. Welcome newbies, teach them how to play. Encourage underrepresented groups to join.

• ​Be Here For Friendship. Don't come to Founder Poker to look for new clients. If you run a business that sells to startups, please forego pushing for deals here and just have fun.
