Forestial Voices
Teddy Hunter's Fields and Forests of Reforesters Farm
This immersive audio performance explores the soundscape of the Reforesters Farm through ambient and electronic music. Created during the residency, the performance focuses on ecology and listening, where the pieces use field recordings of the forest and land managed environments combined with electronic composition to allow the listener to embody the forest voice and question our relationship with our natural spaces. The work also considers how people relate to the landscapes through sound, offering a space to reflect on ecological change, presence, and awareness. The new works will be heard alongside pieces written for Coed Felenrhyd an ancient temperate rainforest in North Wales, UK and the Ruskin Land, England, UK.
Artist: Teddy Hunter
Teddy Hunter is an electronic musician, audiovisual artist and practice-based researcher in Musical Composition with BEAST (Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre) working in immersive audio, alternate music and live performance. Her practice takes root in sonic arts, exploring the environment through field recording, live art performances, installation, songwriting and site responsive artworks. Her current work focuses on the forest voice of the past, present and future, embodying the forest through live performance with forest creature DJ Evergreen to create soundscape works and ambient electronic dance music composed from tree sap recordings and the Sap Synth. Her solo music explores the gentle electronic ambience combined with Welsh and English language, and traditional instrumentation. Characterised by dreamy loops, gradual builds and synthesized melodies, her performances slowly unfurl sounds and layered vocals that are reflected by live visuals that blends the worlds of the ecological, ambient, and visual synthesis. Teddy is also member of tactileBOSCH and live art performance collective SGOR.
