​Crafting Human Friendly CLIs with Node.js Core by Simon Plenderleith

​Node.js core is evolving all the time, and the libraries you might have relied on before to build CLIs aren’t always needed. Newer APIs such as parseArgs, readline/promises, styleText and fetch give us exciting new opportunities for building CLI tools with Node.js.

In this workshop we’ll explore what makes a human friendly CLI and how we can leverage Node.js core to help our users achieve their goals, and live their best command-line lives.

​What do I need for this workshop?

​To get the most from this workshop you'll want to be comfortable writing JavaScript, but it's fine if you've not used Node.js much before. It'll also help if you have at least a little experience running commands in a terminal.

​You'll need to bring along your own computer (preferrably a laptop!) with the following software installed:

• ​Node.js >= v20.18.0

• ​Your favorite code editor

• ​6:30-8:00pm - Participate in the workshop by building a CLI using Node.js core
