ββπ³ Why We Gather
βWe live in a poly-crisis reality today where positive futures for carbon-based life forms are not a given anymore - we must actively co-design their emergence.
βMany humans are becoming conscious that our current techno-capital and social systems are largely built on extraction-nary progress narratives that measure success based on quantity and speed of material accumulation, not on meaningful life-sustaining impact. While humans and the planet are living systems, many of the systems that govern our existence are not.
βWhile the accumulation paradigm brought us much material abundance in the past era of development (in "developed" societies at least), it also compromised many humans' and the planet's best interests in the process, exacerbating complex wicked problems from climate change to modern meaning crisis.
βIn other words, Technology are Capital are both neutral, they can nurture life or extract vitality from life forms, deploying a new wave of transformative technology such as AI, BCI, HCI, Biotech etc. into current misaligned systems would amplify the latter - and existential risks. This reality calls for collective re-design and experimentation of new world systems.
βMany systems-aware scholars and innovators have been redesigning truly life-centric and regenerative systems within academia and startup ecosystems alike. We need more translational spaces for Team Life humans to learn, question, and experiment together, across traditional institutional boundaries, especially in tech-led ecosystems.
βπ·Join us for a weekend of interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing, discussion, and co-creation. We aim to be more than an un-conference - a movement amplifier. Together, we aim to:
βGenerate momentum and tangibility around projects that improve human and planetary flourishing.
βMake progress on the theoretical foundations of this work.
βShare knowledge and experiences to grow together.
βInspire new collaborations, ideas, and projects.
ββHere are a few of our guiding questions:
βWhat is flourishing?
βWhat does it look like in an era shaped by transformative technologies and rapid social change?
βHow do we make sense of complexity?
βHow does personal flourishing relate to systemic flourishing?
βIn what ways do existing systems (natural and built) enhance or inhibit human and planetary flourishing? How can we learn from them?
βHow might we move theory into practice? From organizations and communities to technologies and economies, how can a deeper understanding of flourishing inform the way we design and create things?
βπWho should attend: βWe believe interdisciplinary collaboration is key to this movement, so we welcome participants from diverse backgrounds:
βPeople and organizations whose work or research is focused on human and planetary flourishing.
βInnovators and creators who are eager to co-design products, spaces, and systems that lead toward positive futures.
βInterested and interesting people who want to learn from each other and connect with people who care.
βπ Dates/Schedule:
βSaturday, Feb 8 | 10am-4pm | Unconference sharing sessions and deep dive workshops
βLocation: TBD
βWeβll follow up soon with more details. Hope to see you there!
