Join Julia Burgess in Omaha for International Generalist Day - a global celebration happening simultaneously across cities worldwide on September 3rd, 2025.
This year we have events across 30+ countries and 80+ locations!
Julia is hosting a structured yet relaxed gathering at Stories Coffee Company, complete with educational conversations about what it means to be a generalist, connection-building activities, and discussions about future local generalist gatherings. This event is designed to bring together a community of people who celebrate the way we move through the world as generalists.
What is a generalist? Professionals who apply their skills across multiple domains, connect disparate ideas, or serve as "translators" between different teams and disciplines. If you've ever felt your career doesn't fit in a single box, this celebration is for you.
What to expect:
Connect with fellow generalists in your city
Celebrate the power of diverse skillsets and squiggly careers
Be part of a global movement happening the same day worldwide
Engage in connection-building activities with optional prompts to spark meaningful conversations

6:00-6:20: Arrival, name tags, food & drinks
6:20-7:00: "What is a generalist?" casual education and conversation
7:00-7:50: Building connections with optional prompts and activities
7:50-8:00: Closing and sharing ideas for future gatherings
Format: Casual coffee/drinks socialization with light structure
Location Details: Meeting space in the back through glass double doors
Food & Drink: Order any food and drinks from the cafe
Your host Julia is a former Army Sergeant and current facilitator, experiential designer, community coach, and Zumba instructor. She's dedicated to co-creating a world without loneliness by designing more moments of delight, awe, wonder, play, curiosity and community - perfectly embodying the generalist spirit of connecting across multiple domains.
As Julia said, "I'm excited about bringing together people for the collective sign of relief knowing we aren't alone in being multipassionate and undefined."
