Andrea Tumminello Artist Bio:

My name is Andrea Tumminello (yes, I’m Italian), and I am a 17 year-old college dropout who is looking to get the most that I can out of every opportunity that presents itself to me in this world. My lovely friend, Marie Scoggin (Be Here Now Studio) and owner of Ellister’s Elixirs, Christi Albert, have both given me this delightful opportunity to show off my work in the city to all of the cool folks who wander into Ellister’s. I grew up in rural, north-central Pennsylvania, surrounded by lush forests and fields of flowers, where much of my inspiration has blossomed from. I’ve had an intense passion surrounding art for the past few years, and I have decided that this is something that needs to have a special place in my mind eternally. I have recently vowed to only create work that I enjoy, and to create not for grades and critiques, but for piece of mind and body. This is the time I take for myself, in hopes of teaching others about who I am through my work.

Description of Pieces:

These cyanotype prints are a form of “sun printing”, utilizing UV rays to print digital negatives and various objects onto material in order to create images on papers and fabrics. This specific technique is referred to as cyanotype alternative process, one of hundreds of UV printing techniques. For these pieces, I laid out a large piece of fabric, coated it in a chemical mixture, and then let the fabric soak up the solution and dry. Once the fabric was dry, I continued to arrange dried foliage on the fabric, and placed my digital negatives onto the canvas as well. The digital negatives were created using photographs that I captured around Lancaster City! I exposed the pieces to a special UV light, and then washed away the chemicals. This entire process resulted in the pieces you are currently viewing. I spend as much time as I can outdoors, and I wanted to give others the chance to immerse themselves in the same environment without having to physically step outside. Please take time to observe and enjoy! Xoxo

Marie Scoggin - Traditional Artist

I started Be Here Now Studio to explore colors and themes that make my inner child happy. The art I create is meant to be both playful and comforting. I use elements of nature to create soft, plush images that are soothing to the viewer.

Creating helps me be present and clear my mind, it gives me purpose and is the most important thing for my livelihood. Connecting with the artist community here in Lancaster has been a dream come true!

" my work for this exhibit is all about nature. Spring is my favorite season because of the rebirth and new growth, both metaphorical and physical. I create dreamlike, ethereal scapes to capture the feeling that this time of the year brings me "
