Time : A Lighthouse Café for H3Uni's 10th anniversary

Time is a funny thing. It's at once mysterious, ineffable, short, useful, non-negotiable, limited, and playful. Time is a determining condition, a gift, an asset, a necessity. It's a philosophical conundrum, a 3-dimensional revelation, an eternal abundance, and a hyparchic opportunity. Time is, above all, an ongoing inquiry.

Speaking of ongoing inquiries, the University of the Third Horizon completes its 10th year of operation on this date, and we'd like to mark the occasion with a magnificent lighthouse café of large assembly! With the number of activities, study groups, practitioners' forums, nerve-centre meetings, campfire sessions, self-study groups, and... lighthouse cafés (!) multiplying exponentially since the pandemic, many of us do not know that many others of us are still in the building. This is an opportunity to gather as many familiar and new faces as we can on the Zoom screen and take a moment to share thoughts and feelings, observations and points of seeing, on H3Uni, on the state of things, and on our topic at hand—time, or as it was referred to by Gurdjieff, the great hero-pass. The 10-year marker indeed has cosmic significance:

The event horizon of H3Uni has now spread to over three parsecs!

(Or, if you rather, 94.78 trillion kilometres.) This is how far light from the H3Uni filament has travelled in these 10 years.

No attendance limit and all are welcome. A maximum number of H3U teamsters will be there to share... whatever comes up.

What is Lighthouse Café?

Every Lighthouse Café is an experiment, we see where we get to. We use the chat thread as a record of what we have said! Be ready to make quick shorthand summaries of anything that came up for you while speaking ... especially if it surprised you ! Or take notes of what you hear. Openness to the flow of where your own discourse might lead is part of the café experience.

Many of you already know, the café rules

  • Share the space and time

  • A breath between speakers. Some people may need to know that no one else is speaking before they can speak, so we leave space. Silence is our friend.

  • It's a conversation, everyone takes the initiative to contribute.

  • Use the chat window for notes without ignoring the conversation ( a challenge of divided attention and right timing !)

  • Memory work-out: who has spoken? Who has not?

Arrive a bit early to ensure that everyone can get connected and present.
If for any reason you can not make the event, please cancel your registration so that others might sign-up.

We look forward to meeting you and to whatever may emerge in our research jostle.
