ABOUT THIS EVENT:
Have you ever wondered if specific beers are better for your health than others?
How can IPAs impact our bodies differently than porters and stouts? What’s going on with reduced-gluten beer? Is there a way to decipher between high-sugar beers and low-sugar beers?
In this workshop, Craft Beer Dietitian and Founder of Nutrition on Tap, Lori FitzPatrick, will walk us through the nutrition of beer, leaving no questions unanswered.
Below are some topics Lori will cover during the workshop:
An overview of alcohol content, carb content, calories and the fermentation process for the most common beers we see on menus (e.g., pilsners, porters, stouts, IPAs, sours)
How a standard drink calculator can help you identify beers that are more likely to support your health goals (whether it’s to reduce inflammation or sleep better)
Why gluten free and gluten-reduced beers are different
What you should know about common beer substitutes, such as kombucha and seltzers
How carbs in low/no alcohol beers compare to carbs in alcohol beers
What’s going on with vitamins in beers (e.g., b vitamins) and if we should drink any type of beer to up our vitamin intake
You can submit questions to Lori in advance (here) or ask her live during the workshop!
We’ll be giving away some beer from one of Lori’s favorite brands, ENAY Brewing Co. If you’re into beer and your health, ENAY is a must-try. More info on why we love them below.
About Lori FitzPatrick
Lori is a Registered Dietitian and Founder of Nutrition On Tap, a community of craft beer drinkers seeking to nourish their whole selves - mind, body, and soul - by making food and drink choices that are informed by science & lived experience, aligned with their goals, and honor their unique preferences. Her approach focuses on what you can add, not what you should “cut”, and what you have to gain - not what you have to lose. Her signature course Craft My Balance welcomes users to grab a seat at the bar inside her virtual taproom, where everything they need to know about nutrition, beer, and health is on tap - along with strategies for putting it into practice a couple habits at a time. She tag teams the course with her husband Tim, who is also a dietitian and stay-at-home dad to their 2-year-old daughter (and baby boy due in December!)
Lori has been featured as a mindful drinking expert in VeryWell Fit and Well + Good articles, held workshops at local breweries, and teamed up with a local kombucha company to create a nonalcoholic scavenger hunt in Richmond, VA. She holds degrees in exercise science and nutrition from Temple University and Virginia Tech, and received her clinical nutrition training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

About ENAY Brewing Co.
We’re giving modern drinkers a better option. In early 2023, we stumbled headfirst into the world of non-alcoholic beer, not as pioneers but as thirsty folks in hot pursuit of a Dry January fix. Spoiler alert: we thought our NA beer would be utter crap. But it was shockingly good. We couldn’t stand confining it to just one month, so we went into relentless refinement mode, tweaking ingredients and processes until it was damn near flawless.
No one should miss out on life’s moments. ENAY is giving a one-finger salute to the myth that choosing an NA beverage drags you to the sidelines. We’re creating a world where everyone feels valued and included, not “othered” as they stand in a corner nursing a soda while everyone else drinks the good stuff. We support people living and enjoying life without excuses, weird vibes, or changing who they are. ENAY doesn’t preach sobriety, and we’re definitely not anti-alcohol. We’re pro-live-however-the-hell-you-want. Whether they’re ditching alcohol for good or just pumping the brakes, people deserve a beer that respects their choices. Not one that demands their conformity.
Something bigger than us. Crafting kickass beer is our thing, but we’re so much more than what’s in the glass. We’re a rebel with a cause hell-bent on supporting our friends in the hospitality industry. You know, the hardworking folks who make everyone else’s good times possible. After witnessing the mental health and substance abuse challenges many of them face, we created The Staff Project, where 1% of every ENAY beer sold funds life-changing programs. We are a community-fueled force for hope and change, where our customers can make a difference by simply drinking our beer. Every sip contributes to removing barriers, providing crucial resources, and smashing stigmas surrounding substance use and mental health.
ENAY ships to homes nationwide (shop here). You can also find them on IG/FB: @drinkenay
