Engaging Everyone - Even Introverts
How do you engage the quiet people?
You know, the ones who are a bit more shy and introverted and have a hard time speaking up in your group?
Imagine you're running a fun activity, and one person doesn't seem to participate much. You decide to put them on the spot and ask them a question. Suddenly, they become flustered, their face turns red, and you can sense the awkwardness in the room.
Jan Keck used to be that person. Being the centre of attention and having all eyes staring at him used to be his worst nightmare! 😱
So in this workshop, a self-proclaimed “recovering shy-guy” will share personal insights and practical strategies for designing experiences that doesn’t make anyone feel left out.
He'll share what’s going on in a quiet person’s head when you lead your “silly” icebreaker at the start that makes them want to disappear 🫠 You’ll learn step-by-step methods to balance participation, ensuring that even the quietest voices are heard and valued.
Whether you’re an introvert or extrovert, you’ll walk away with actionable frameworks to foster more productive, inclusive, and engaging group experiences.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll be confident to create a space where everyone feels invited to share their ideas and perspectives, leading to a more productive, inclusive and collaborative experience for all.
See you there!
🙌 About the host
Jan Keck is a trainer, facilitator and experience designer.
He is driven by a simple belief: real, deep connection beats small talk - every single time.
There’s nothing that breaks his heart more than witnessing individuals trapped in awkward icebreakers, feeling more isolated despite being in a group.
He's been lucky enough to share his ideas through a TEDx talk and be featured on platforms like CBC News, Breakfast TV, and HuffPost, but for Jan, the real success is in the stories people share about the deep connections they've made. What he enjoys most is seeing those lightbulb moments when strangers realize they’re not alone.
During the pandemic, Jan has taught thousands of trainers, facilitators and educators how to recreate the “magic” of in-person gatherings online and turn the dreaded Zoom fatigue on its head.
Now, he is channelling his insights and experiences into writing his first book, "Ice Melters,” where he advocates to ditch traditional icebreakers and shares his framework to increase engagement, build trust and foster deep connections - without making people cringe.
I hope you’ll join him on his mission to help people feel less alone and fuel the movement for deeper human connection.
