8:00 am PDT – Community-built AI will surpass centralized AI, again
Talk by Himanshu Tyagi, Co-Founder, Sentient
The AI revolution started with open-source contributions by the research community, spread across academia and industry. However, once the signs of useful intelligence were discovered, a few centralized companies started to control AI models and moved towards closed AGI. This has resulted in a race to the bottom where almost none of the large AI companies publish advancements openly and closely guard their progress towards AGI as a secret.
At the same time, many innovations are happening daily where small groups surpass the performance of these closed AGI models. At a fundamental level, we are building a reasoning overlay logic for the underlying large models, which must capture all kinds of human thinking and require massive participation by human contributors.
Sentient is a platform for aligning all these innovations towards a community-built open AGI. In this talk, Himanshu will highlight the key problems that need to be addressed for building this platform and unleashing a new AI entrepreneur economy around community-built open AGI.
