Workshop Overview:
The desire to align organizational strategy using Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) has been around since before the former CEO of Intel coined the term and introduced OKRs to Intel in the 1970’s. In the past few years interest in using OKRs to drive organizational performance has seen a resurgence thanks to thought leaders such as Marty Cagan, Jeff Patton, and Jeff Gotthelf. Confusion remains about using OKRs and how leaders achieve true alignment to a strategy. What's more - implementation in the context of an organization that wasn’t designed to align to OKRs is hard.
This lively workshop will cut through all of the confusion by exploring real-world scenarios and discussing examples from organizations that struggle with OKRs. We will work through a framework of strategic tools that help with OKR implementation and get practice with approaches that help make using OKRs and KPIs make sense. Product Managers will go home with helpful tools, an understanding of what is possible and where to start in their own organizations.
Workshop Goals:
1. Help product leaders differentiate between OKR types, the goals of each through real-world examples, and case studies.
2. Demonstrate common pitfalls of “adopting” OKRs without Product Thinking and organizational support.
3. Give product leaders a path to start implementing product OKRs in a sustainable way while they are working to remove larger organizational barriers.
