we know it's been a while, we miss you!
for any newbies babes in development are a free community organisation for black women in the uk.
we are based and host masterclasses and events in london, and have an offline community on whatsapp with over 500 members. we have produced over 60 free events across disciplines since we began in 2022.
we most recently produced a free literary brunch for 12 first time novelists who were unagented in partnership with the barbican centre’s imagine fund and mireille harper, editing commissioner at bloomsbury tonic, where they got their work critiqued and received in person editorial feedback from 12 black women editors and agents.
two of our writers got signed within 6 months of the brunch!

can you believe it will have been a year almost to the day from our last open session (woodworking)! but that's community passion projects for you sis, its about the love, dedication and the relationships we build. so thank you for your patience as we built this experience for you. we want to always provide as much life affirming, high quality opportunities as we can, and so we are literally over joyed that we can bring together our babes to meet and learn from one of the greatest female boxers of our time (if not the greatest) 🥊CAROLINE DUBOIS.🥊
this is our first babes event of 2025 and we want to end our summer with some new, bright mid-august energy which focuses on our inner light, our inner fighter, our ability to make ourself into legends and become masters of our work, our bodies and our minds.
inspired by the life and work of world champion caroline dubois, who we believe to be a modern day legend, we want to platform her and her career to other black women as we believe she can be a major source of inspiration for us and our communities.
we also want to collaborate with her to give our babes an opportunity to learn practical skills from her which can be applied to all of our lives, regardless of our career.
boxing babes breakdown:
this would consist of a 45 q&a followed by a 30 minute training / boxing session with caroline and then a light 15 min sparring session which focuses on new techniques.
