Silicon Valley & Southeast Asia: Tech Talk with Nicolas El Baze & Binh Tran
What does Silicon Valley know about Southeast Asian tech?
Hear firsthand from people who’ve been there, done that, and have experience as repeat founders and investors in both ecosystems.
Nicolas El Baze is a global tech investor based in San Francisco who has led about 100 early-stage investments globally. He is one of the very few Silicon Valley investors actively involved in Southeast Asia, having led over 30 investments in the region, including Beam, Fazz, HonestDocs, Igloo, Shipper, Us2.ai, Xendit, and Zenyum.
As a founder, Nicolas built and exited companies to Cable & Wireless and Microsoft. He also established the first trans-Atlantic venture development platform resulting in two IPOs and multiple M&A exits.
Binh Tran is a former Silicon Valley founder turned Vietnam-based VC investor. Binh co-founded Klout, the Kleiner Perkins-backed social analytics company that was acquired for $200M, and Evalulogix. Binh has completed 50+ seed investments in both the US and Southeast Asia, including notable ones in ELSA and Turing.
