Jan. 10: Vision Board Collage
Slow Night invites non-artists, bad artists, and burnt out creatives for an inspiring and optimistic collage night. To celebrate the beginning of a new year, we'll be creating vision boards that reflect the life we'd like to lead in 2025.
Pull inspiring images, textures, colours, and words to build a visualization of the life you're building. Vision boards (also called dream boards) can be a great tool to help you stay motivated, focused, and grounded while working toward your goals in the year to come!
(If you prefer not to create a vision board, no worries! You're still welcome to come and create freely.)
Come cut and paste to your heart's content! As always, we’ll provide all materials: old magazines, books, other paper materials and all other supplies you need to create your own artsy assemblage ✨ (Special thanks to our friends at Type Books for providing some source material)
Come as you are with good vibes and an open mind! We welcome all skill levels, but especially beginners.
What to expect:
✂️ All materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own keepsakes to include in your art. If you have something like a special notebook or journal you'd like to build your collage on, we welcome that too!
🍺🥨 Society Clubhouse’s bar will be open all night. You’ll have tons of options for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic bevvies, as well as snacks like empanadas, pretzels, and cookies.
🌀 This is an open session without formal instruction, but don't worry, we won't leave you hanging. We keep the intro yapping to a minimum so you can cut straight to creating, but facilitators are roaming and always available for help with materials, techniques, and ideas. If this is your first time collaging or if you're feeling a little stuck, ask us for advice or a second opinion anytime, we'd be happy to help!
Things to note:
Cancellations:
Tickets can’t be refunded or exchanged, so please be sure about the date before you reserve. If something comes up and you’re unable to make it, you’re welcome to have a friend attend in your place!
Media release:
We take photos and videos at our events for marketing purposes, so if you attend, you or your work may be recorded. By attending, you confirm that you’re cool with that, and that you won’t hold us (or the companies we partner with) responsible for any damages.
Abandoned artwork:
If you leave your artwork at the end of the night, we may use it. If you want to retain your rights under the Copyright Act, please take your art home with you or let us know before you go. We will never claim authorship of abandoned artwork.
