Our Yuletide gathering
Long Now London has been gathering in a variety of formats, locations and frequencies since 02008. Since 02018 we have met on the second Thursday of the month, usually in a pub, sometimes in a park, online when necessary.

Renewal
Up here on these islands, December is a time of darkening days, historically a time for gathering indoors, stoking a fire and exchanging stories as we wait for the light to return. Amongst other things, the term "Yuletide" has come to mean the time between our Winter Solstice and the change of the calendar year.
Having read into maintenance last month, for our (almost) Yuletide gathering we will be thinking about "renewal".
The invitation ahead of this event is that you bring with you one story of renewal. It could be something from your own life, or something you heard, or something you read. Could it be made up? Maybe. That probably depends on your personality.
There will not be any pressure to get up and share your tale with everyone, but we do hope you'll each ask each other about what renewal might mean for you, at whatever scale (the big here, the long now, in your own life, within our group).
Where
Muse is the new cocktail bar in RSA House. While in the early evening you can access Muse via the main RSA entrance on John Adam Street, after a certain point you will have to enter via the designated door round the corner on Adam Street (please note the difference!). At that door, you will need to press the buzzer and they will come and let you in ASAP. Say you are there for Long Now and you will be directed to us (likely filling their second room).
Why
Come for conversations about long-term thinking, deep time, art, futures, technology, maintenance, a wide range of -ologies and -isms depending on the crowd, and all kinds of attempts to think even just a little outside of the rapid fire frameworks encouraged by these accelerating times.
About Us
Long Now London is a community of practice for long-term thinking. The group started in 02008 and has been meeting every month (usually in a pub) since 02018.
We are an independent local group inspired by work of the Long Now Foundation and using their name with permission. We are in regular dialogue with other such groups around the world. If you would like to set up your own where you are, please do get in touch.
