Speaker bios:

Sam Malik, Chief Insurance Officer at Arta Finance

Arta Finance is a Ribbit Capital and Coatue funded startup aiming to make the financial superpowers of the ultrawealthy more accessible. At Arta, she works with people to create wealth management and insurance solutions, so their family is cared for, even after they're gone.

Sam has been a pioneer in the insurtech space and worked to bring insurance to where people already were interacting online instead of getting people to come to insurance agents. Prior to her current role, Sam was based in Hong Kong and Bangalore and spearheaded first-of-a-kind insurance partnerships with super-apps like Alibaba, Tencent, GRAB, and Flipkart. Previously she managed the multi-billion dollar Accident & Health portfolio for MetLife Asia across nine markets and was Chief Distribution Officer and Interim CEO for MetLife’s $1B+ AUM Hong Kong business. She also served as an executive board member for MetLife Hong Kong and MetLife Vietnam. Throughout her career, Sam’s superpower has been converting insurance complexity into practical innovation. She was born and raised in India, where she was a national level basketball player and track athlete.

Ann Lucchesi, Managing Director at First Citizens Wealth
She is responsible for delivering educational programs, providing thought leadership and facilitating lead generation to the private bank. She’s also a subject matter expert for all things related to private stock and equity compensation. In her current role, she’s primarily focused on helping founders and executives of private companies plan across their entire balance sheets.

In addition to her career at SVB, Ann is a certified financial planner and certified equity professional. She has also spent time working with companies on pre-IPO planning and post-IPO equity management. Throughout her career, Ann has enjoyed connecting clients with professionals who can help solve their financial planning issues and educating them on how best to achieve their financial goals. In short, she loves helping people understand their financial life.

Ann holds bachelor’s degrees in international business and finance from Oregon State University. She also has an MBA in finance from the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley.
