About Event

Join us for an opportunity to explore Bioscience at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) through tours and discussion. This event offers a chance to learn about emerging research, explore programs designed to foster partnerships, and visit laboratory facilities, including:

  • The newly remodeled Microbial Research Laboratory (MRL), featuring laboratory ecosystems for growing algae and microorganisms, advanced capabilities like the Algae Pest Lab and the Harmful Algal Bloom Lab, and high-throughput screening technologies such as flow cytometry and cell sorting. These facilities support experimental capabilities including biomanufacturing, bioplastics, biofuels, and environmental and human microbiome studies.

  • The Bioscience Lab Office, Operations, and Management (BLOOM) building, which houses labs dedicated to applied genomics, microbial ecology, host-pathogen biology, and environmental surveillance. The BLOOM building is home to the Environmental Surveillance Lab and the Ecological Security Lab as well as the DOE Science Focus Area program on Bacterial-Fungal Interactions and their Role in Soil Functioning. The building is also home to several bioenergy programs and supports research on tissue engineering, toxicology, and therapeutics development.

The event concludes with a networking lunch with laboratory researchers to discuss potential collaborations and explore project ideas.
