SF Intersangha Picnic for International Friends Meetup Day
Join us for an Intersangha Picnic in Dolores Park for International Friends Meetup Day!
An opportunity for meditators (and anyone interested in meditation) in San Francisco to connect & enjoy each others company. Come with friends, meet some new friends, and enjoy some sun (hopefully!) and food together.
🧺 bring some food, drinks, a picnic blanket, lawn games, or anything else that a good friend might bring to a picnic AND/OR offer a donation that we'll use to pick up some tasty treats from Dolores Deluxe
📚(optional) bring a quote, poem, or book about friendship that inspires you. we'll have a book swap for anyone who's interested
“I want to emphasize how desperately this world is in need of lovely friends. Wise people. Spiritual friends. Kalyna Mitta. I think it’s part of our job to really become that for our friends. For the world. Not just waiting for the good friends to come and save us, but to also be part of that for others.” - Carol Wilson, Spiritual Friendships
Background
A newsletter arrived in my inbox in which Tasshin, someone whom I’ve been aware of but not met, shared the wish of their friend, Visa, for his birthday to become International Friends Meetup day. And a request: let’s make it happen! (by setting up friends picnics around the world on June 6).
I was touched by the wish, and the caring request, and was inspired to setup a picnic!
Not to mention - supporting wholesome friendship & community amongst meditators is the mission of the nonprofit my wife and I started, Community Village… AND.. it also happens to be my mom’s birthday, who I think will be happy to know of this growing holiday (i promise, this won’t get in the way of me visiting Mom! 😊 )
Info on Community Village
Community Village is a community-first approach to meditation oriented towards people in their 20s and 30s - and open to ALL (we don’t check IDs! :)). Whether you want to learn how to meditate, or are an experienced practitioner: our intention is to co-create welcoming and supportive environments to build meaningful connections, get inspired and learn how to bring practice into everyday life. We are a peer-led community, co-created by its members. Some come join in!
