About Event

The blue economy represents a $2.5 trillion annual opportunity, yet remains significantly underfunded. Oceans regulate climate, support over 3 billion livelihoods, and underpin global trade, but critical financing gaps persist—particularly in decarbonizing ports and building resilient coastal infrastructure. This session will spotlight the transformative potential of blue infrastructure in advancing sustainable development and climate resilience. The discussion will explore how policy coherence and governance mechanisms like Sustainable Ocean Plans (SOPs) can unlock innovative finance. Leaders from public development banks and the private sector will share strategies for de-risking investment, scaling blue infrastructure, and accelerating the transition to a sustainable, inclusive ocean economy.

How can policy, finance, and governance converge to unlock investment in resilient, low-carbon blue infrastructure?

The event is hosted by The Development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.
