​​Jian Wei, a Design Director at Zendesk in San Francisco, brings over 14 years of experience in designing user interfaces. Leading a talented team of designers, he is dedicated to building the best customer support platform for businesses. In addition to his role at Zendesk, Jian Wei mentors senior designers at RETHINK, guiding them in their careers and helping them achieve their professional goals.

In this talk, Jian Wei will share how to approach career growth with the mindset of a Singapore Bus Captain. He will provide a framework based on his personal journey and insights from his career progression

​Embarking on a mid-career switch is never easy; it involves risks, trade offs, and taking a leap of faith. Join Alicia and Desmond as they share honest stories about their respective journeys and experiences—the ups and downs, lessons learnt, and how they developed a passion for designing with a purpose.

​Alicia is a Product Designer who creates effective and enjoyable products through thoughtful and intentional design. She currently designs technology for public good at Open Government Products, where she hopes to deliver meaningful impact for citizens and public officers. Previously, she was a Creative Producer who worked on multidisciplinary festivals and performances at Esplanade and Arts House Limited for 6 years.

​Desmond is a product designer at Open Government Products, where he creates solutions to better digital experiences for citizens and government officers. In his 'past life', he spent a decade photographing people for clients across the arts, heritage, media and finance industries. Looking to do something more meaningful, he took a leap into the unknown two years ago, and ventured into the world of user experience design.
