About Event

What does it mean to succeed in today’s video game industry, and what does the road ahead really look like? Join us for this month's Tech on Tap for a casual deep dive into gaming's future from Leo Natanian, covering global platforms, MMOs, and firsthand stories from inside the industry.

Learn why
- Good design still wins
- Global games require global awareness
- The medium shapes the message

In this talk, Leo Natanian draws on his experience building RiotPay, launching the cozy MMO Palia, and leading the synchronous gameplay team at Skillz to offer a candid look at where the industry is heading.

He’ll explore why single-player design isn't dead (i.e. Elden Ring), how culturally sensitive design is essential for global markets (ever try to kill a dragon in China?), and why success is never guaranteed, even with funding, talent, and vision. Leo will also unpack regulatory shifts and market constraints, from platform restrictions to compliance minefields that affect design, launch, and monetization strategies.

Expect a few bold predictions, including why virtual reality might go the way of 3D TVs, and where the real next wave of innovation might come from.

Leo Natanian is a product and engineering leader with a background spanning AAA games, monetization platforms, and emerging studios. Leo blends technical depth with product vision, and his work bridges infrastructure, user experience, and market strategy. He's currently based in Los Angeles and is an active voice in tech and gaming communities.

Tech on Tap is a free networking night for the tech and innovation community hosted by the City of Glendale's Economic Development Division. Open to all who are curious about tech, this monthly series brings together interesting people to connect, learn, and grow.
