Greetings! We are extremely excited to announce The Vinod Chowdhury Memorial Lecture for the year 2022.
The Vinod Chowdhury Memorial Event is one of the most prestigious events organized by The Economics Society, St. Stephen's College. This annual event is organized in the fond memory of our former department head Mr. Vinod Chowdhury. It is a prestigious two-part event, consisting of a lecture by a guest speaker followed by a debate competition.
About Prof. Bhaskar Chakravorti:
Prof. Bhaskar Chakravorti has agreed to deliver the lecture. An alumnus of St. Stephen’s and the Delhi School of Economics, Prof. Bhaskar is the Dean of Global Business at The Fletcher School at Tufts University and the founding Executive Director of Fletcher’s Institute for Business in the Global Context. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, Senior Advisor for Digital Inclusion at the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth and Advisory Board Member, IICPSD, UNDP. He was a leader of McKinsey's Innovation and Global Forces practices and taught innovation and entrepreneurship at Harvard. Holding a Phd. from University of Rochester, he also served on the economics faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was selected to be an officer of TAS, the "talent pipeline of leaders" for India's Tata Group. In a 30 year career, he has been an advisor to CEOs and senior management of over 30 companies in the Fortune 500 and worked across the Americas, EU, Asia and Africa, and multiple industries.
