AI CoLab Workshop - AI and the future of public services
Automation and AI has been reshaping the landscape of professional and white-collar work for years, and the continual improvement of LLMs will only increase this pace. This creates interesting opportunities and challenges for public sector organisations who are typically slow to change for many reasons - some good, some bad.
How can, and should, AI systems be adopted by Governments and Public Services, including the APS? Where are the potential benefits in and what are the limits? Should we expect AI provide incremental improvements or fundamental transformation?
This interactive workshop will use a structured approach to map potential uses of AI in public services, evaluate them along multiple dimensions and identify concrete steps to help maximise the benefits.
The workshop will be lead by the NSC Futures Hub at ANU, a national centre of excellence in analysing potential futures and integrating those insights into decision making today. The Futures Hub has worked with dozens of organisations and government agencies and specialises in hands-on, short workshops to think practically about the world that is coming.
This is a collaborative and open session through the AI CoLab (join.aicolab.org), so please only bring things to share that are unclassified. Consistent with the AI CoLab MoU and Charter, it’s a cross-sector event.
