About Event

In partnership with Code for Hawaii, come learn more about the Hawaii Zoning Atlas and how you can be a part of the volunteer project team. After this info session, the current UX team of 4-6 people expects to establish a weekly UX meeting. The entire Hawaii Zoning Atlas team meets the first three Mondays of every month, and at these meetings, they provide project updates with the Code for Hawaii community and work on project-related tasks.

About Hawaii Zoning Atlas
The Hawaii Zoning Atlas is both an interactive online map showing what can and can’t be built by right in every zoning district in the state and a novel open dataset for scholars to compare Hawaii’s regulations and housing outcomes with other jurisdictions across the country.

Our goal is to serve as a rallying point for a coalition of civic, nonprofit, and advocacy organizations that will:

  • Educate the public on land use and zoning issues

  • Develop policy solutions for the housing affordability crisis

  • And advocate for those solutions in upcoming legislative sessions

HZA is the state affiliate of the National Zoning Atlas and is supported by HousingNow!, Code for Hawaii, and the Mercatus Center.
