About Biel Glasses
Biel Glasses is a deep-tech startup founded by the parents of a child born with low vision (LV). The most disabling effects of LV are those that impair mobility—leading to falls, injuries, dependence, and social isolation. Biel Glasses addresses these challenges with BIEL SMARTGAZE, smart glasses that use spatial computing to adapt the real world to the user's remaining vision, enabling safe and independent mobility.
The system combines 3D vision and artificial intelligence to detect potential mobility hazards, and uses mixed reality (XR) to provide graphical and audible warnings that users can perceive. It also includes visual enhancement features—such as zoom, contrast adjustment, and adaptive lighting correction—to adjust the visual scene to each user’s needs and current light conditions.
The technology is patented in the United States and already certified as a Class I medical device in Europe. Biel Glasses has received multiple grants and awards from renowned institutions such as the National Academy of Medicine, the European Commission, and the European Space Agency.
Joining the event:
Jaume Puig, CEO of Biel Glasses. MBA & Engineer in Electronics and Telecommunications
