Overview
As the war continues, Ukraine faces a growing mental health crisis. Millions are exposed to ongoing trauma, from frontline combat to forced displacement and loss of loved ones. Traditional treatments fall short of addressing the scale and complexity of this suffering, and Ukraine urgently needs new tools.
In a historic shift, the Ukrainian Ministry of Health is working on rescheduling certain psychedelic substances, opening the door to clinical research and innovative approaches to care that were not possible under the existing legal framework.
Over the past year, Ukrainian and international collaborators have launched a growing initiative to support patients with treatment-resistant conditions such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Efforts include plans for clinical trials, capacity-building programs for therapists, and a recently implemented group ketamine-assisted psychotherapy protocol as a scalable, cost-effective model.
This event explores the emerging role of psychedelic-assisted therapies in crisis areas, with a special focus on Ukraine.
