Atomic Action - Baltimore Climate Tech Meetup November 2024
Hey Climate Co-Conspirators,
We're excited to bring something special your way - the power of the atom! For this meetup we'll be joined by Nick Toran, he's a nuclear engineer at TerraPower. Nick is incredibly knowledgeable, he'll tell us all about why he believes in nuclear energy and answer our questions.
We know that splitting atoms to spin turbines is controversial among many thoughtful environmental advocates. We encourage you to bring your skepticism and concerns to this meeting such that everyone can learn about the promise and perils of isotopes!
Here's some quick fun facts about Nuclear:
It's one of the only commercialized technologies that can create 24/7 energy without emissions.
It's currently delivering 33% of the electricity on our grid (PJM).
The United States has the largest operating fleet of nuclear reactors on earth.
We're graciously being hosted at Lorax, Baltimore's pre-eminent sustainable buildings consultant! Guests driving to the location can park in the lot behind the office by entering through the ally on Read St or Madison St. And if you're a driver, consider making your next car electric!
Did you know that if you make less than $75,000 you can claim a used EV tax credit of up to $4,000 on a vehicle that costs less than $25,000.
Doors open at 5:30, Talk starts at 6:00. Grab a friend and join the fun!
