About Event

This is a monthly virtual (via zoom) meetup for women who work in, or want to work in, climate and the energy transition.

We will use a Lean Coffee format, where we co-create the agenda real-time and get through the topics that are most interesting to the group. Each month we'll pick an industry learning theme and a jobs related theme to focus on.

This month we're talking about 2 highly topical renewable energy areas that are getting a lot of attention: Geothermal and Fission energy.

Room 1:  Geothermal Energy

Guest: Joselyn Lai is CEO of Bedrock Energy, a technology start-up helping real estate tap into free, clean heat from the ground right underneath their properties. With subsurface analytics and autonomous drilling innovations, Bedrock is dramatically reducing the cost, space, and time requirements of constructing geothermal HVAC systems, with a vision to unlock distributed geothermal as a scalable, investment-grade clean energy asset class. Prior to Bedrock, Jos spent a decade in start-ups across sustainable agriculture, urban mobility, and other mission-oriented categories, and started her career at Bain & Company.

Room 2: Nuclear Fission Energy

Guest: Juliann Edwards is Chief Development Officer at The Nuclear Company, bringing nearly two decades of experience in clean energy and workforce development. She chairs U.S. Women in Nuclear, a 5,000-member organization advancing the role of women in the industry, and also served on the board of Bruce Power, which is Canada’s only private-sector nuclear generator and the world’s largest operating nuclear facility. Juliann joined The Nuclear Company following her time as Vice President of Power and Energy at TC Energy, where she assembled a 100-person team to oversee the build-out of $16 billion in clean energy projects.
