​🍌 The Upcycled Food Association (UFA): a nonprofit trade organization dedicated to reducing food waste by advancing the upcycled food economy. Founded in 2019, UFA collaborates with over 200 companies globally to transform surplus food into high-quality products, thereby preventing waste and mitigating climate change. Their mission is to champion upcycling as a critical solution to the climate crisis and advocate for the upcycled food industry's best interests. UFA's initiatives include the "Upcycled Certified" program, which helps consumers identify products that contribute to waste reduction, and Upcycled Food Month, an annual event in June that raises awareness about upcycled foods.

​🍓 What's Upcycling and Food Reallocation?

​Food upcycling is about turning byproducts from food production into new, high-quality food products—keeping good ingredients out of the landfill and on your plate.

​Food reallocation (or food diversion) rescues excess edible food and redistributes it to people typically facing food insecurity, instead of letting it go to waste.
