XRP is the native token of the XRP Ledger, similar to ETH for Ethereum or BTC for Bitcoin. XRP facilitates transactions on the network, protects the ledger from spam, and bridges currencies in the XRP Ledger’s native decentralized exchange (DEX).
XRP was purpose-built for payments and is one of the only cryptocurrencies determined not to be a security in the US, and with a foundation of regulatory clarity in several other countries.
XRP offers lightning-fast, cost-effective transactions that settle every 3-5 seconds at fractions of a cent per transaction. With over 2.8B+ transactions processed and 5M+ XRP wallets around the world, XRP enables developers, businesses and institutions to build their blockchain applications at scale.
XRP Ledger is an open-source Layer 1 public blockchain with a proven track record and high reliability spanning over 10 years.
Due to its robustness and transparency, XRPL has garnered support from numerous large enterprises and financial institutions.
In addition to being the foundation for Ripple's enterprise blockchain and crypto solutions, the XRP Ledger is being utilized in various use cases, such as supply chain finance, real-world asset tokenization, and DeFi.
