Can we Predict Voting Intention With Brain Waves?
How do you tell which way undecided voters and “Don’t Know” respondents to polls are leaning? What can electric brain waves tell us about voters’ political beliefs? Do they give us clues on which way undecided voters might swing?
Join Dr. Emmanuel Mahieux as he shares the insights with you of a study he conducted in San Antonio, Texas, in the weeks preceding the 2022 state Governor election. His goal was to determine if implicit or explicit measures of political preference could predict voter behavior.
His implicit measures were a scale of social values and a neural “signature” known as the N400 event-related potential (ERP). The N400 is an ERP to any stimulus that engages semantic memory and has been shown to measure implicit disagreement with political statements.
