The Art Walk through Mitte-Süd around Checkpoint Charlie begins at carlier I gebauer with three exhibitions: a solo show by Leonor Serrano Rivas, a group show with Laure Prouvost and Paul Pfeiffer, among others, and a presentation by Nicole Miller. The tour continues in the same building complex at Barbara Thumm Gallery, where Roméo Mivekannin reflects and deconstructs colonial-influenced pictorial traditions of European Orientalism with lush paintings. Just a few steps away, Soy Capitán is housed in the Lindenhaus, where US artist Melissa Joseph poetically processes personal memories using needle-felting, found objects, and archival material. Right next door at Galerie Nordenhake, Spencer Finch translates subtle, fleeting observations into pared-down, monochromatic works of great poetic power. On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, Buchmann Galerie presents dynamic, organic sculptures and drawings by Tony Cragg. At Galerie Thomas Schulte, site-specific sculptures by Lena Henke interact with the space, while Jonas Weichsel transforms conventional painting tropes into radiant, analytical visual worlds. At Sweetwater, Megan Plunkett shows photographic observations of everyday life with forensic precision. The tour concludes at Klemm’s, where Leelee Chan’s hybrid sculptures uniquely merge architecture, biology, and material culture.
