Titles that Stick: How to Engage Editors and Readers from the Start
ABOUT THE EVENT ✏︎
As writers, we know titles are important. Titles are often the first contact a reader will have with our work. A great title can set the tone for a piece, establish its central conflict, introduce characters or name climactic events.
A great title can also get a piece noticed more quickly in the submissions queue or in a table of contents. Yet so many writers struggle with titles! In this session we will talk about the many different kinds of titles, from intriguing to quirky, from simple to mysterious.
We will talk about what may be happening on the craft-level when a writer is struggling with a title. We will explore a range of fun exercises and practical strategies to get unstuck. There will be lots of interaction and time for questions.
