About the Speaker:
Major General Paul Deepak Naidu is an alumnus of St Joseph's Boys High School, Bangalore. After his pre university he joined the National Defence Academy at Kadakwasla, Pune.
During his military career spanning almost 36 years he has held a number of command and staff appointments at a tactical, operational and strategic level.
As a Major, he commanded a field company on the Siachen Glacier and also during the Kargil War. Subsequently, as a Colonel he commanded an Engineer Regiment in J & K in a counter insurgency environment.
The officer has served with the United Nations in Lebanon, with the Military Operations Directorate at Army Headquarters and as an instructor in the prestigious Defence Service Staff College, Wellington; as Brigadier, he commanded the iconic CHINDITS Mountain Brigade in Assam in an active counter insurgency environment; He was then selected as the Security Advisor and Training Team Leader to the Kingdom of Lesotho in Southern Africa from 2015-17.
His last tenure before superannuating in August 2022, was as Joint Secretary in National Security Council Secretariat, New Delhi. He is presently a Senior Consultant with a Project Management firm.
The officer is a keen sportsman and has represented the Indian Armed Forces in Tennis at the National Championships on two occasions. He is an avid traveler, photographer and blogger. He is married and has two sons.
