🥁 ConnectTheDots community presents: THINKATHON!

🔥 Looking to meet new, smart, interesting people? Maybe a cofounder, a future employee/employer, or just new friends? We have the solution, but this is going to be WAY different. 🔥

‼️ This is NOT your typical networking event! This is about having FUN and TRULY getting to know new people. No name tags, no boring small talk. Be ready to use your hands, your brain, your smile — the full you.

🤔 What specifically will we be doing?

🧠 Think of it as a hackathon, but shorter and not necessarily about coding. We call it a Thinkathon!

👥 Upon arrival, all attendees will be divided into teams of about 5 people (this may vary depending on attendance). Once the teams are formed, we’ll announce a unique, intriguing problem or scenario—no coding or specialized skills required, just creativity and teamwork. Each team will then collaborate closely, brainstorming, strategizing, and working together to devise the most creative and effective solution possible.

🚨 Here’s the catch: there’s no time for awkward small talk or lengthy introductions. You and your teammates will jump straight into tackling the challenge, bonding quickly through a fast-paced, engaging intellectual adventure. But don’t feel too confident…we will be throwing in some unexpected twists to keep you on your toes. (Hope you are good at solving puzzles...)

🏆 After time’s up, each team will present their ideas and solutions to the whole group. Then, everyone gets to vote and celebrate the winners of specific fun and creative awards.

🥳 Overall, don’t worry too much about the details. Again, this event is all about having FUN and genuinely connecting with other amazing people in a unique, exciting setting.

SCHEDULE: (PDT)

  • 2:00 PM - 2:20 PM: Guest Arrival, Meet & Greet

    • We have a legal limit of 40 guests in the venue, so please arrive on time. If we hit capacity, unfortunately we will have to turn people away :(

  • 2:20 - 2:45 PM: Introduction & Team Formation

    • ​Teams will be randomly formed at the event, most people are coming alone so do not worry! 😊

  • 2:45 - 4:00 PM: Thinkathon Working Session!

  • 4:00 - 4:30 PM: Presentations

  • 4:30 - 4:45 PM: Group Judging and Awards

    • ​There will be fun small prizes!

  • 4:45 - 5:00 PM: Closing Remarks

  • 5:00 - ?:?? PM: Optional, but some of us will likely go for pizza/drinks in North Beach afterwards. Feel free to join!

WHAT TO BRING:

  • We recommend you bring a fully-charged laptop and charging cable!

    • ​This is because you and your team will be tasked with coming up with a solution to a prompt—that’s the core of the Thinkathon. As a team, you’ll then present your solution on stage using a projector. Maybe you'll choose to create a Google Sheets presentation, but that’s entirely up to you. Don’t sweat it though—this will be fun!

  • Bring layers!

    • The weather is looking good on Sunday, but it can sometimes be a bit chilly in the church (our venue), so just in case bring layers.

MORE EVENT DETAILS:

  • We have a MAXIMUM OF 40 PEOPLE!

    • This is a legal limit for our venue, so please be sure to show up on-time at 2:00 PM PDT (or slightly earlier) to secure your spot. Unfortunately if we hit capacity we will have to turn people away :(

  • There will be drinks and light snacks provided.

    • Water, sparkling water, chips, pretzels, etc.

  • There is a unisex bathroom available to all guests.
