About Event

Join us on Friday, 4/25, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET for a special 1.5°Climate quick-pitch event on making polluters pay in California. As climate disasters drive billions in costs, taxpayers are left shouldering soaring financial burdens and skyrocketing insurance rates.

Co-hosted by the national League of Conservation Voters, Energy Action Fund and Make Polluters Pay, this event spotlights two key bills that shift these costs from taxpayers to the fossil fuel companies responsible for climate destruction:

  • The Polluters Pay Climate Superfund Act requires fossil fuel polluters to cover the costs of damages caused by their products.

  • The Affordable Insurance and Climate Recovery Act improves insurance affordability by shifting rising insurance costs away from ratepayers and onto fossil fuel companies.

Supported by California Environmental Voters and Extreme Weather Survivors, these bills will strengthen climate resilience, improve affordability, and hold polluters accountable—setting a powerful precedent for the nation.

Confirmed Speakers include:

  • California State Assemblymember Dawn Addis (AD 30)

  • Fossil Free Media, Jamie Henn, Founder and Executive Director

  • California Environmental Voters, Mary Creasman, Chief Executive Officer

  • Extreme Weather Survivors, Sierra Kos and Chris Kocher, Co-Founders and Co-Executive Directors

While 1.5°Climate events are typically donor-exclusive, we’re excited to welcome all San Francisco Climate Week participants to this crucial discussion.

1.5°Climate is a national donor collaborative providing climate philanthropists direct interactions with a wide range of organizations and projects on the front lines of the climate fight. 1.5°Climate does the research, then highlights the most impactful organizations at bi-weekly virtual quick-pitch events.
