About Event

The Global Hardware Meetup community and the Australian Creative Electronics Society (ACES) are excited to announce our 5th Hardware Meetup in Sydney!

Come showcase, witness and chat all things hardware, robotics, deep tech, and startups. Everyone is welcome.

A special thanks to Macquarie University Incubator for hosting us. Housed in an award-winning, sustainable building, MQI is where research, entrepreneurship, and community come together to thrive. MQI offers coworking spaces, expert mentoring, and programs, with its startups securing over $88M funding, creating 194 jobs and generating $43M revenue since 2020.

Your ticket contribution is greatly appreciated in helping run more hardware meetups here and around the world.

🤖 If you have your own hardware to demo, bring it!

You'll have 2 mins during the Community Open Mic to demo a prototype or talk about what you are working on. We're looking for prototypes, finished products, and part samples from the hardware on your desks.

We have a great group of guest speakers

  • Stephen Leahey is the Co-Founder of Exa Product Development, with over 25 years' experience turning complex hardware ideas into scalable, manufacturable products. His background spans hands-on design, team leadership, and large-scale manufacture across the medical, industrial, consumer, IoT, and telecom sectors - including roles in both Australia and the US.

  • Dr Clyde Webster is the Founder of Crest Robotics, developing tools for workers to make their jobs safer and more productive. He was a lead engineer at the Space Machines Company and with NASA JPL as a visiting scholar researching lunar mobility. Clyde is bringing his first product to market in the energy sector, and working on a range of technologies in sectors ranging from construction to space.

  • Rebecca Lodin is the CTO of MicroTau, which is improving the efficiency of aircraft through its drag-reducing Riblet Modification Package. She has 19 years of experience in advanced hardware research, product development, and manufacturing across the telecommunications, medical, automotive, and aerospace industries.

  • Dr Joanna Chua is a deep tech VC investor, with a keen interest in science-led ventures. She focuses at the early-stage, having cut her teeth at Sydney-based seed stage VC firms Right Click Capital and Investible. Prior to VC, she had a career in life sciences research, where she trained as a biomedical engineer.

  • Async guest appearance from John Forbes of Julian Capital and deepchecks.vc 👀
