About Event

A peer support circle, share or just observe.

This is a TOPICS format of our regular Belonging Circles for Resilience. This one specifically welcomes our gender non-conforming and queer community, but all allies are welcome too. The more the merrier!

Ecological Identity is a term used to describe how we feel and respond to the needs of the planet. According to Dr. Thomas Doherty, environmental identity is...

"A question we should start asking ourselves and each other, Doherty suggested, especially as we navigate anxiety about climate change and look to solve the ecological impacts of a warming world."

There's the traditional coping guidance and tools, but "The process starts with thinking about where we grew up, what our parents were like, what books we read or movies we watched or places we traveled. Just like gender identity or cultural identity, everyone has a climate identity."

Articles on this topic

Familiarize yourself with the topic. We will give everyone a chance to share their "story" a monologue of sorts, with no feedback, suggestions, nor judgement (no cross-talk!) and then a final brief period of sharing at the end to uncover further self-insights you may have gleaned, or were reminded of about yourself. We conclude with announcements.

This is a confidential safe space. We do not--

  • ask you to sign up for anything

  • shame you for not volunteering or protesting

  • report your identity or publicly share what you choose to talk about

  • share your contact information, nor share photos of you

A personal resilience practice.

Why should we uncover our feelings? We will talk about it.

This is NOT group therapy. It is an opportunity to dig in, ask questions and feel community connection with other concerned folx. Saying the quiet part out loud is empowering.

Climate Circles are a system of clima-unity.

Coming together in a Circle like this, gives each participant a chance to simply listen to perspectives of others. How does the changing climate, and everything before it, during, and the aftermath of its wrath— how do each of us take this into our continuum of understanding the natural and built world.
