​Dès sa plus tendre enfance à Alger, Marie-Pierre ne veut s'habiller qu'en robe et refuse obstinément son prénom de naissance : Jean-Pierre. A 17 ans, sa vie bascule lorsqu'elle découvre la revue d'un cabaret de travestis en tournée : le Carrousel de Paris. En quelques années, elle devient « Bambi », figure mythique des cabarets parisiens des années 50-60. En recueillant le témoignage d'une des premières transsexuelles françaises, Sébastien Lifshitz poursuit le travail entamé avec « Les Invisibles » et trace le destin d'une personnalité hors du commun.

​From a very young age in Algiers, Marie-Pierre only wanted to wear dresses and steadfastly rejected her birth name, Jean-Pierre. At 17, her life changed forever when she discovered a touring cabaret revue of drag performers: the Carrousel de Paris. Within a few years, she became “Bambi,” an iconic figure of the Paris cabaret scene in the 1950s and ’60s.

​By capturing the testimony of one of France’s first trans women, Sébastien Lifshitz (winner of the 2013 César Award for Best Documentary) continues the work he began with The Invisibles, chronicling the life of an extraordinary individual.
