Grounded Strands: A Grief Workshop
Meditation beads have been used for centuries in multiple cultures and spiritual practices. They’ve gone by various names throughout this time, such as Malas in Hinduism and Buddhism and Tasbih in Islam, and have been used in cultures such as Greek and Turkish to serve as a stress-relief tool to provide relaxation and focus for individuals. Throughout this time, people continue to utilize these beads as part of their meditation, prayer, self-reflection and spiritual practice.
In this workshop, we will explore our emotions, our connection to grief and the way it plays a role in our lives. You will have the opportunity to craft your own meditation beads (prayer beads, worry beads, etc), that reflect your own personal style, your emotions, and your own approach to processing your experiences. At the end of the workshop, you will get to take home a personalized keepsake. Materials will be provided.
In this workshop, you will:
Learn about meditation beads: Discover the history and significance of meditation beads across different cultures and spiritual traditions.
Express your emotions: Select beads and materials that symbolize your feelings, allowing you to create a tangible representation of your journey through grief.
Create a personalized keepsake: Set an intention and assemble your meditation beads. You will select colours and styles that reflect your needs, hopes, and personal approach to grief.
Share and reflect: If you feel comfortable, share your creation and the emotions it embodies with fellow participants. This optional sharing circle provides a supportive environment.
By the end of this workshop, you'll have a beautiful set of meditation beads that serve as a powerful tool for meditation, reflection, and emotional release. These beads are meant to be a meaningful addition to your toolkit for navigating grief and finding moments of peace.
No previous crafting experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.
