Research Lecture (#2): Medical Nemesis by Ivan Illich

​Join my ongoing research lectures. Every month, last Wednesday of the month at 5 PM (Pacific) / 8 PM (Eastern).

​In May, we'll be exploring Ivan Illich's counter-cultural text Medical Nemesis: the Expropriation of Health where he argues for a "cultural iatrogenesis" wrought by the medical industry upon society, both through increased interventions and through medicalizing human life and values. This will connect with last month's lecture which explored the origin of biopower in Foucault's lectures Security, Territory, Population.
