Guided Kava Kava Ceremony

Participants are invited to experience a unique traditional plant root drink from the Pacific Island called "Kava Kava Root". The Kava plant has been received in drinking ceremonies for centuries as a central part of everyday life for peoples of the Pacific Islands. Kava Kava ceremonies are rich in culture and is used to mark many important occasions in society. To bring about peace and harmony between tribes and communities, or to calm issues between family members. Ceremonies can be done to join people in sacred union and is the first steps when installing chiefs and dignitaries into leadership. Kava ceremonies are even initiated just to socialize and relax to talk with family and friends.

What is Kava Kava? Kava is an herbal dink that is made from the roots of Piper methysticum -- a type of plant found in the islands of the Pacific Ocean. Its name means “intoxicating pepper”....however is not intoxicating as one may think. It is more like a strong cup of Lavendar tea. It is the “Kavalactones” when washed into a liquid, that provides the euphoric feeling. People who live on Pacific islands like Fiji and Tonga have used it for hundreds of years in social gatherings and traditional medicine. They dry out the roots and crush them into a powder. Then they add water and drink the mixture. Not only is it a non-alcoholic drink, Kava is said to elevate mood, well-being, and contentment to produce a feeling of bodily relaxation. Several studies have found that Kava may be useful in the treatment of anxiety, insomnia, and related nervous disorders.

In this unique experience, participants will receive traditional Tonga Kava prepared by Ema, a consecrated Female Christian Mystic of the Tewahedo Rite. Ema uses traditional Kava for her own mental and soul nourishment and wants to share this plant root drink with others. Participants are free to be themselves and sit in their own light regardless of where they are in life. While receiving the Roots, there will be times for sharing a word, a song, a dance or just simply feeling free to be in your space keeping silence and contemplation. The ceremony is always a sacred and non-judgmental experience for you to have a time to focus on self, letting the Kava Roots heal and nourish the body and soul.
