In this workshop, you will:

Craft Songs Instantly: Experience the thrill of making up songs as you go. You’ll practice using straightforward methods, such as knowing when to add a chorus and taking turns singing, to help guide your spontaneous song creation.

What is Musical Improv?
Musical improv is like a game where you and your friends make up songs right on the spot. You don’t need any prepared lyrics or music; instead, you create them as you go. It’s a mix of acting and singing, where everyone collaborates to create fun and surprising songs that fit the moment.
It might sound tricky, but with the right mindset, simple guidelines, and a bit of practice, it’s easier than it looks. Think of it like creating a first draft—using patterns like adding a chorus and taking turns helps you shape your spontaneous songs.

Highwire Improv hosts open improv jams, classes, and introductory workshops at Roland Park Community Center! Improv comedy provides a great opportunity to play, connect with other people, and laugh in a fun, low-stakes, supportive environment. All levels of experience are welcome!
Highwire Improv’s mission is to steward a community of artists committed to growth, collaboration, joy, and justice — in Baltimore and around the world — through improvisational theater. We host improv workshops and jams, and also hold rehearsal space for performance groups on Wednesday from 7-9 pm.
