About the Speaker:
Er. Umesh Kumar Gupta is the Executive Director of the Industrial Enterprise Development Institute (IEDI), an autonomous Government of Nepal agency, where he leads Startup Nepal initiatives to strengthen the startup ecosystem, business incubation programs, and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem. He holds a Master’s in business administration (MBA) with a basic qualification in engineering and a Master’s degree in Social Science, blending technical expertise with strategic leadership in innovation, entrepreneurship, and enterprise development. With extensive expertise in policy planning, advocacy, implementation, and capacity building, he has played a pivotal role in driving sustainable, resilient, and inclusive economic growth in Nepal. Umesh has spearheaded innovative programs that bridge government policies with grassroots entrepreneurship, fostering resilience among startups, MSMEs, and promoting climate-smart enterprises. Previously, he contributed to the commercial sector with multinational manufacturing companies, regional development projects, and public-private partnerships aimed at sustainable industrial growth. His career reflects a deep commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in Nepal's startups and entrepreneurial landscape.
