EarthRanger for Administrators offers a very fast paced introduction to the EarthRanger Administration system and is divided in 2 separate sessions. This program is intended for advanced EarthRanger users comfortable with computer configuration and authorized to make changes on an EarthRanger system.
Administrator Training Cluster 1 (this session) covers how to manage users and permissions, provides an overview of Event configuration and data models, and introduces device and subject administration.
Administrator Training Cluster 2 (see the calendar for the next session) includes mapping functionalities, use of analyzers for data analysis, and the configuration of alerts and notifications.
Administrators Training Cluster 1 - Topics
Topic 1: Users and Security (Permissions)
Permission sets define access levels and actions users can perform in the system
User accounts provide individual access credentials secured with passwords or PINs
User profiles offer an alternative login method with limited access via PIN for shared devices
Administrators have full system access, and best practices include assigning correct permissions and deactivating unused accounts
Topic 2: Data Model Overview
Learn about building a data model to manage event types within EarthRanger
Users will learn to create and manage event categories and types
Event configuration includes schema definition and display settings
Topic 3: Device Overview (Subjects Administration)
Subjects in EarthRanger represent the entities you track and monitor, such as an elephant named Horton or a helicopter identified as Focke-Wulf
This section covers advanced subject management and tracking processes
Users will learn to manage subject data for better handling and reporting
We look forward to seeing you all there!
