Climate Workshop: Systems Thinking for Effective Action
What might change if we reframe the climate crisis as just one piece in a complex web of interconnected crises?
Which approaches might address the shared roots of these crises — and which ones just shift harm elsewhere?
What role can you play in collectively building a truly life-sustaining society?
This workshop is for young professionals who want to move beyond surface-level solutions and engage with the deeper systems and stories driving the climate crisis. Through mapping, group dialogue, and real-world case studies, we’ll explore the shared roots of our entangled social and ecological crises, examine dimensions of change, and reflect on where our unique skills and energy can make the most impact.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have systems thinking tools that you can apply in your life and work moving forward. You’ll also identify a tangible next step to share on a collective wall of ideas — with the opportunity to connect with others who share your goals and spark collaboration for collective action.
In this workshop, we'll...
Unpack the climate crisis. We'll explore the underlying drivers and worldviews behind the climate crisis and its interrelated crises.
Understand change. We'll explore how systems change happens through slowing down harm, transforming structures, and shifting perspectives.
Apply systems thinking. We'll analyze real-world climate solutions with a systems lens to consider their actual impact and trade-offs.
Reflect on our path forward. We'll identify how our individual strengths and values might fit into the broader changemaking ecosystem.
You'll walk away with...
A wider and deeper view of the climate crisis and its driving forces.
Practical frameworks to approach climate from a systems perspective.
New insight to bring into your work, conversations, and decisions.
A clearer sense of direction and next steps that feel empowering.
A community of peers who share your curiosity, concerns, and drive.
The workshop will include breaks, snacks, and time to connect with others, so we can stay refreshed and engaged throughout the afternoon.
Your $10 ticket will contribute to covering venue costs and refreshments.
Prior to the workshop, please listen to this podcast episode from Entangled World — What is the Metacrisis? (47 minutes) — to help ground you in the context and language we'll be exploring.
