About Event

What does community-led climate justice look like in the Bay Area? Join us during SF Climate Week for a discussion with local climate leaders Tere Almaguer of PODER and Nio Gonzalez from Youth vs. Apocalypse, moderated by Shalu Umapathy of Designing Impact. Together, we’ll explore how people-powered environmental action and design come together to forge a more sustainable and just future for communities in the Bay Area. Highlighting ongoing initiatives, such as the Hummingbird Farm started by ¡Poder! in Southeast San Francisco, we’ll investigate the role design can play in strengthening community engagement and craft locally resonant solutions. The conversation will be followed by an interactive discussion and light refreshments.

This event is  co-hosted by IDEO.org, and Designing Impact (https://www.designing-impact.com/) with guest speaker Natalia Vasquez from IDEO. Together, we seek to explore the role of design in advancing climate justice and envisioning the paths forward.
