About Event

Ready to master Italian storytelling? Passato prossimo and imperfetto are your keys to unlocking natural, flowing conversations about the past.

These two essential tenses work together to help you share experiences, describe memories, and tell compelling stories in Italian. From ho mangiato la pizza (I ate pizza) to andavo spesso al mare da bambino (I used to go to the beach as a child), understanding when and how to use each tense — and combine them — will transform how you talk about the past.

In this practical 60-minute live workshop, teacher Federico will guide you step by step through the logic behind passato prossimo and imperfetto, showing you exactly when to use each one and how to weave them together for natural storytelling.

🗓️ Session details

  • 60 min Live, Interactive session with Hands-on exercises

  • Conducted in English

  • All levels welcome

  • Live Q&A included

  • Recording and session material available after the workshop

🎯 What you'll learn (and practice!)

  • When to use passato prossimo — Talk confidently about completed, specific actions and events: Ho visitato Roma la scorsa estate (I visited Rome last summer)

  • When to use imperfetto — Describe ongoing actions, habits, and background details: Faceva caldo e la città era piena di turisti (It was hot and full of tourists)

  • How to combine them naturally — Create richer stories by mixing background (imperfetto) with main actions (passato prossimo): Mentre studiavo, Marco mi ha chiamato (While I was studying, Marco called me)

🙌 Why this topic matters

These are the most common past tenses in spoken Italian. Master them, and you'll tell stories and share experiences with the fluency and confidence of a native speaker.
